🛡️ What is Cyber bullying? – A Beginner’s Guide

In a world where everyone is constantly connected online, the way people communicate has changed — and sadly, so has the way people bully. Cyberbullying is a modern form of bullying that happens through digital platforms like social media, messaging apps, gaming chats, and email.

🔍 What exactly is cyber bullying?

Cyber bullying involves using technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. Unlike traditional bullying, this can happen 24/7, and the attacker can stay anonymous — making it more dangerous and harder to stop.

💢 Common forms of cyber bullying:

- Mean messages or comments posted publicly or sent privately

- Spreading rumors or lies online

- Impersonating someone to damage their reputation

- Leaking private photos/videos without consent

- Excluding someone deliberately from online groups

- Mocking or body shaming through memes or edited photos

⚠️ Why is it dangerous?

- It follows you everywhere. You can’t just walk away from it like schoolyard bullying. It’s in your phone, laptop, inbox.

- It affects mental health. Victims often experience anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or even suicidal thoughts.

- It spreads fast. One post can go viral and cause huge embarrassment in minutes.

- It's hard to erase. Online content can stay forever even after deleting.

🧠 Who can be affected?

- Anyone. Students, teens, influencers, even adults can become victims.

- Bullies aren’t always strangers — they could be classmates, ex-friends, or anonymous users.

🌱 What can we do?

- Think before you type. Words can wound deeply — even online.

- Speak up. If you or someone else is being bullied, don’t stay silent.

- Report & block. Use platform tools to protect yourself.

- Support victims. Be the person who makes others feel safe, not scared.

💬 Final Thought:

Cyber bullying might start with a screen, but it ends in real pain. Let’s use the internet to build people up, not break them down. Awareness is the first step toward change.
